Polly Danger. Cute name, huh?

Polly, of Polly Danger Notions, sent me her Spring 2010 catalog last week, which I expected to be filled with cute bias trims and other notions. But honestly, how cute can bias tape really be? There’s only so much you can expect from a folded strip of fabric, right? WRONG!

Polly’s bias tapes are made from the finest quality Japanese and handpicked Vintage fabrics. Each tape is sewn by Polly herself and made sturdy so you can enjoy them for years to come!

Polly has four different collections:

SWEET. Made from dainty florals and vintage-inspired prints. They are the perfect finishing touch to a flirty sewing project.

SIMPLE. A fresh collection of ginghams and polka dots in a variety of colors. They make a fantastic compliment to projects with solid or floral fabrics.

My parents were in town visiting from Atlanta last week which allowed me time to get some long overdue organizational projects underway. Here’s one of my priority projects, which lay half complete in my office for about a month and a half- no kidding! We needed a large wall calendar but I wanted something pretty and unique. This is what I came up with….

I used a large wooden frame from Ikea that I handpainted myself. I followed the simple, detailed instructions from Teri over at Giddy Giddy, for the most part. See her version below. It’s slightly different than mine and yes- hers is way cuter- I know. Cut me some slack as this was my first…

Get the tutorial here. And thanks to Teri for creating this wonderful project!

I’ve been in my sewing cave working on some projects that I started forever ago and never finished. That tends to happen alot to people with ADHD. I should be used to it by now.

The stars aligned…. my sewing machine and serger were cooperating. I had my Keyka Lou pattern all printed up and ready to go. My fabric from ParasolCo. and Heidi Kinney had just arrived. Little one was in school. Time for Amy to sew. And that’s what I did. Here’s what was made….

Pixie Pattern + Matroyshka Dolls/Ikat Dots =

Raindrop Wristlet

Pattern Review

I must say I was a bit intimidated by the patterns at first. Not that they appeared to be confusing or complex in any way but I am just not the best at following instructions. My seam ripper is my bestest friend if that tells you anything.

But Michelle, designer of Keyka Lou Patterns has created very simple, straight forward instructions for her patterns. And I took full advantage of the tutorials she posts on her blog. If you have any questions about sewing your patterns this is the place to go!

Fabric Review

I was really impressed with both bundles of fabric I had ordered! Heidi Kinney’s fabric came directly from Spoonflower. The design was oh so cute and incredibly detailed. I just adore this print!

The fabric from Parasol Co. was a big suprise and truly amazing! Not that I wouldn’t expect amazing design and detail from Yasmine of A Print a Day & Parasol, but the quality and hand of the fabric was really above and beyond what I had even hoped it would be. It’s super-soft. It reminds me alot of the organic collections that I love so much. They’re just softer than the others.

You’re definitely getting more than just cute looking fabric. Parasol Co. fabric delivers on all fronts. You should definitely check it out!
